Welcome

Giving every child a home, an education, and a future

Welcome to Global Orphanage Development Organization — a registered non-governmental organization based in Arusha, Tanzania, dedicated to giving orphaned and street children the home, education, and support they need to thrive. Founded on the belief that every child deserves dignity and opportunity regardless of circumstance, GODO provides shelter, schooling, healthcare, and self-dependence training to children who would otherwise be left behind. What began as one man's response to the hardship he saw around him has grown into a structured, community-driven organization guided by a formal constitution, an elected leadership, and a clear mission: to help vulnerable children become confident, self-reliant members of society.

Why our work matters — GODO
Our Purpose

Every Child Deserves a Home, an Education, and a Future

Vision

A community where every child — regardless of circumstance — grows up as a responsible, self-reliant member of society, participating fully in economic and social activities while enjoying their full rights, in happiness and dignity.

Mission

To enhance the lives of orphans and street children by providing safe accommodation and self-dependence education, both within our center and out in the wider community, so that no child is left to face the world alone.

Goal

To help vulnerable children become confident, self-reliant members of society in Arusha City and the surrounding communities.

What We Do

Meeting every child's needs — holistically

Across 6 core program areas, GODO provides complete support to vulnerable children.

01

Basic Needs & Shelter

Food, clothing and safe temporary accommodation for children with nowhere else to go. This immediate, practical support is the first step in stabilizing a child's life and creating the safety needed for learning and healing to begin.

02

Healthcare & Wellbeing

Access to medical facilities and counseling support for children navigating hardship. We also provide education and consultation on health, disease awareness and self-awareness.

03

Education & Schooling

School enrollment and our own education center for consistent, quality learning — a foundation for every other opportunity in a child's life.

04

Self-Dependence Training

Self-awareness, economic and social education that builds lasting independence — helping children move from dependency toward genuine self-reliance.

05

Nursing Home & Counseling Center

A dedicated permanent space for the care, emotional support and welfare of street children in Arusha — part of our long-term development plan.

06

Talent, Crafts & Sports

Programs in handcrafts, sports and games that nurture each child's individual talents, offering healthy, joyful outlets for growth, teamwork and self-expression.

Our Story

One family's promise

GODO was founded by Elphas Amon Kaaya, who was moved by the difficult conditions facing orphaned children across African communities. After his passing in 2016, his son, Macdonald Elphas Amon, took up his father's mission and continues to lead the organization's growth today.
